Information You Submit
Search Terms
When a name, location, booking number, or similar detail is entered into a search box powered by a third-party provider, that query is sent to the provider that operates the tool. Contra Costa County Inmate Population does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the information in that message may be kept long enough to read it, respond, and handle any related follow-up. Those messages are not shared outside the organization except when required by law.
Automatic Technical Data

- IP address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on pages.
- Referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand how visitors use the site and whether pages work as intended. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, although some search, ad, or analytics features may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How Data Is Used
- To keep the site available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the correct outside search partner.
- To understand which pages help visitors find Contra Costa County custody resources.

- To display advertising that may be relevant to visitors.
Outside Websites
This site links to sheriff pages, jail rosters, court portals, CDCR, BOP, ICE, VINELink, statutes, vendors, and third-party search tools. After a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy policy and terms control what happens there.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure ad performance or tailor ads across websites. That tracking occurs through their tools and policies, not through an official Contra Costa County system.
